About Ciaran

I hold a first-class Master's degree in Biochemistry with a year in industry (honours) from the University of Warwick. Currently, I'm engaged in groundbreaking research on drugs for the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases at the University of Oxford.

With six years of tutoring experience, I've honed various teaching skills that I apply in my lessons. Witnessing my students flourish and surpass their expectations has been immensely gratifying, both for them and for me.

My teaching approach places a strong emphasis on relatable, everyday examples that help students maintain focus and attention. I also employ visual aids and begin with foundational concepts before progressing to more complex theories, ensuring students gain a deep understanding of the topic.

Building a close connection with each student allows me to tailor my lessons to their unique needs, enhancing their enjoyment and success in learning. My passion for science dates back to my early years and has propelled me into a fulfilling career, enabling me to collaborate with prominent organizations like GSK, the University of Oxford and various Biotechs.

During the recent pandemic, I volunteered with the Coronavirus Tutoring Initiative, providing support to children from less advantaged backgrounds.

About the lesson

Central to my tutoring approach is the integration of everyday examples and visual cues. My extensive experience with diverse learners has demonstrated the effectiveness of using relatable examples and imagery to trigger memory responses. This not only maximizes student performance but also sustains their engagement and enhances the overall learning experience.

My lessons follow a structured format, commencing with an initial phase of learning using presentation slides and individualized questions, which is then complemented by a segment dedicated to past paper analysis. However, tailoring the session to fit each student is a key feature of all my lessons. I strongly believe that a supportive and encouraging environment is crucial for effective learning, and I am committed to fostering such an atmosphere during my tutoring sessions.
