About Omer
I have worked as an environmental professional for over 15 years, with experience spanning environmental education, scientific research, college-level teaching, habitat restoration, and natural resource management. Throughout my career, I have applied ecological principles in museums, nonprofit organizations, botanic gardens, research programs, and government agencies. These experiences have helped me develop the ability to communicate science effectively and support students with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience.
My goal as an instructor is to help students recognize that biology and ecology are not just subjects in a textbook—they are processes happening all around us. Throughout my career, I have studied and worked with a wide range of organisms and ecosystems, including birds, fisheries, shellfish, crayfish, native and invasive plants, forests, wetlands, beaver-created ecosystems, and microscopic aquatic organisms. These experiences allow me to connect scientific concepts to real-world examples and help students see their connection to the natural world.
I strive to meet students where they are and make challenging concepts more approachable through clear explanations, practical examples, and connections to local ecosystems. With extensive field experience and a passion for environmental education, I am committed to helping students build confidence, curiosity, and a deeper understanding of biology and ecology.
