About Daniel
My name is Daniel.
I am a graduate student at Clark University researching the structure of human chromatin loops. I worked in Clark University's undergraduate tutoring office for three years. In that time, I have tutored a wide range of topics, including Biology, Computer science, data science, calculus, and introductory Japanese, though the first three are my specialty. As a graduate student, I am no longer permitted to work in the undergraduate office, so I'm opening my expertise in collaborative tutoring to those looking for a firmer grasp in the aforementioned subjects

My time spent as an undergraduate tutor for Clark University showed me that understanding of a complex subject stems from a combination of building on a basis of common knowledge and practice in application of new knowledge. I apply this combination wherever applicable; my first steps in tutoring any client is to establish what specifically they are trying to learn so that I can find a foundation of common knowledge from which I can locate any struggles or misunderstandings. While I typically believe life sciences are most easily explained though visual aids and coding concepts are best learned through practice, I am experienced in adjusting to the learning needs of my client to fill any knowledge gaps in a way that they will retain. I will often ensure a taught concept is well understood by prompting the client to apply it after teaching. In biology, this often means asking the client about hypothetical biological scenarios, while in computer science I may construct a coding problem to work through. This works best when the client is either in a class (anywhere from middleschool to undergrad) they are struggling with or have a clear concept of what they're trying to learn and want help with
