About Marissa
I have a B.S. and Masters in Chemistry, and have taken many basic and upper-level college and graduate courses in Biochemistry. I have tutored for college-level General Chemistry, and acted as a teaching assistant for college-level General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, and Chemical Biology. My teaching evaluations have consistently demonstrated my efficacy as a tutor; my students report that I effectively aid their learning and progression through their courses.

I tutor and teach high-school and college level general chemistry, organic chemistry, and biological chemistry fundamentals. I'm also a researcher in chemical biology and I'm excited to help students learn the scientific method and laboratory science practices, prepare for and apply to science college programs, and understand pathways to landing a job in science.
I tailor tutoring sessions to each student. Depending on your learning style, we may choose a few examples to focus in on to ensure you understand the fundamentals, or practice many example problems together to learn through repetition. I may also ask you to work on specific problems between sessions and present them back to me-thinking about how to explain a concept clearly to someone else often spurs us to explain it to ourselves as well!
