About Jacob

I am a Board Certified Chaplain, working at several hospitals in the Metro Detroit area.

I also have a Master's Degree in (Jewish) Education from the Azrieli School of Yeshiva University (NY). I have taught Judaic studies at schools in New York, Ohio & Michigan to students in grades 4-6 mostly.

Currently, I teach Hebrew School to students online, as well as in a classroom weekly.

About the lesson

Hello!
My name is Jacob Lasson & I reside in Michigan with my wife & children.
Having a Master's degree in Education, as well, I use my passion for inspiring students of all ages in various capacities.
For years, I have taught and tutored students in classrooms all over the country, as well as via online platforms.
I inspire students' love for learning and meeting academic goals by tailoring my lessons towards the student's key interests. For example, if a student enjoys soccer, I will form a math or writing lesson around that! :)
I work with Upper ES, MS students at the moment.
A typical lesson plan for English writing, for example, would be:
a) Find a subject that interests the student.
b) Brainstorm creative ways to describe the topic. Thinking outside the box!
c) Learn (5) new vocabulary words to describe what we wish to write about
d) Show the student the correct syntax for tastefully composing a sentence
I believe that students should be engaged in the material and I use my chaplaincy training to assess the student's aptitude and approach, allowing me to understand what types of pedagogical modalities will work with them.
