About Sylvie
I am an experienced ESL and academic English instructor with a Master’s degree in TESOL and many years of teaching experience in college, adult education, and international learning settings. I have taught students from many language backgrounds and levels, including beginners, intermediate learners, advanced students, and adults preparing for academic or professional communication.
My teaching style is patient, encouraging, and well-organized. I believe students learn best when they feel respected, supported, and challenged at the right level. I take time to explain clearly, correct kindly, and help each student build confidence step by step.
As a tutor, I bring strong research, writing, language, and cross-cultural teaching experience. My goal is to help students not only improve their English skills but also feel more confident using English in real-life, school, and workplace situations.

My tutoring approach is patient, personalized, and practical. I begin by identifying each student’s strengths, needs, goals, and learning style. A typical lesson may include conversation practice, vocabulary development, grammar support, pronunciation, reading comprehension, writing correction, and guided practice with clear explanations.
As a tutor, I draw on my Master’s degree in TESOL and many years of experience teaching English as a Second Language, academic English, reading, and writing to students from diverse backgrounds. I especially enjoy helping learners gain confidence, organize their thoughts, improve fluency, and communicate more clearly.
My lessons are for ESL learners, college students, adult learners, high school students, and anyone who wants to improve English for school, work, everyday communication, or academic success. Each lesson is adapted to the student’s level and personal goals.
