About Zhantao
I’m a Math PhD student at New Mexico Tech with tutoring experience in both the U.S. and China. I enjoy helping students feel confident in math by making ideas clear and building strong problem-solving habits. My sessions are supportive, organized, and goal-oriented: we identify what’s causing mistakes, practice with purpose, and track progress over time. I work well with students from different backgrounds and learning styles, and I’m happy to tailor lessons to your course syllabus, homework, or exam goals.

I adapt my teaching to different learning styles and focus on building clear intuition, strong problem-solving habits, and exam-ready skills. In our first session, I’ll quickly diagnose what’s holding you back (concepts, algebra, strategy, or speed) and create a targeted plan to improve.
A typical lesson includes a quick review of key ideas, guided practice with carefully chosen problems, and a short “exit quiz” to confirm progress. I emphasize step-by-step reasoning (not just answers), common pitfalls, and efficient test-taking strategies. After each session, I can provide brief notes and optional practice/homework suggestions.
I tutor U.S. high school and college math, including Algebra/Precalculus, AP Calculus (AB/BC), Calculus I–II, Linear Algebra, Differential Equations. Online sessions use a shared whiteboard, and you’re welcome to send questions/materials in advance for a more efficient session.
