Firstly, I look at what topics the student has to learn and then plan my lessons around that. I like to have 1-to-1 classes with my students talking through how to tackle certain types of problems. Then I give my student examples of the problem to see if they understand the topic and if not then I offer my help. It is important for me to see the student try things on their own with me present. I also leave homework for students usually from a textbook.
