About Ozan
I'm Ozan, and I've been passionate about maths forever! Especially as a Maths Teacher, I love sharing that passion with my students and tutees, not only helping those with short-term successes for important exams, but also fostering a more creative and critical thinking brain for those to go above and beyond in their futures. I completed my Mathematics and Statistics degree from UCL, and went back there to do a PGCE in secondary school mathematics education, where we received the world's best (according to the QS rankings :D) pedagogy education. I speak fluent Turkish on top of English, but if you are an ESL student aiming to get used to the UK curriculum, please do not worry as I have had experience with students like this before and I am always accommodating to any needs of my students. I have had students who spoke primarily Portuguese, Mandarin, Thai, Vietnamese, French and Spanish, so I know what I need to do in order to better assist students whose educational backgrounds are from abroad.

My teaching philosophy revolves around adapting research-backed and classroom-proven teaching methods to my tutees, to make sure my lessons are effective, but also FUN! I always aim to ensure my students have a fundamental understanding of concepts and are flexible with their use of mathematical techniques, by providing them with an appropriate balance of explanation, examples, and practice to allow them to flourish. I am not a lecturer, listening to someone speak for an hour straight is difficult for anyone of any age group! I adapt my lessons to each student, using a variety of up-to-date resources and lesson structures, and I make sure to assess continuously to ensure deep understanding and ensure the pacing is effective. Lessons will typically be 1 hour, but I am willing to be flexible to suit your needs! Although my PGCE degree was mainly focused on 11-16 year olds (KS3/4) I do have experience (and greatly enjoy) teaching A-level and lower years as well! Whether you need support for upcoming exams, catching up to your current scheme of work, or want to explore maths beyond your education at school, I would be happy to provide a personalised tutoring plan for you. A typical lesson might differ based on what you are looking to get out of a session with me. A lesson focusing on exam revision or catching up to the curriculum may differ entirely from a session which involves an investigation into more advanced mathematical concepts.
