Methodology

I have a friendly and supportive teaching style, often using examples from clinical medical practice to illustrate concepts. I tailor my teaching to the individual needs of each student, e.g. using audiovisual tools, illustrations and memory aids according to the needs of each individual student

Experience

I am a qualified medical doctor and a PhD in Women’s Health and Genetics. I am passionate about teaching and have taken the UCL Arena One programme. I taught A level students, undergraduate medical students as well as supported Masters students in writing dissertations in Maternal Health and Genetics

‘The Impact of Paternal Metabolic Health on Sperm DNA Methylation and Fetal Growth’
• Funding: PhD stipend from the Rosetrees trust & project grant from the Medical Research Council (MR/P011799/1)
• Included a prospective cohort study of 500 mother-father-child trios to investigate whether paternal insulin resistance and obesity is associated with an increased risk of fathering infants affected by fetal growth restriction
• Investigated the possibility that paternal acquired traits, including obesity, are associated with epigenetic (DNA methylation) changes to spermatozoa by analysing DNA methylation in human spermatozoa using the DNA MethylationEPIC Array
• Performed the largest to date analysis of DNA methylation covariation between blood and spermatozoa
