My teaching method is based on the Socratic Method as I believe that students should be taught the fundamental ideas behind concepts so they can apply them to unique problems. However, I support students through this process by guiding them so that their thinking process can become more streamlined, and they become more comfortable with the subject.
I firmly believe in first teaching students necessary concepts before using past papers to help them consolidate information.
For medical personal statements, I provide guidance for students to best appeal to universities as well as help students concisely write in a way that will help them score interviews.
I have been a tutor for more than two years and helped several students achieve better scores on standardized tests including on the SAT, US AP exams, SAT subject tests, and in subject-specific topics such as statistics, probability, chemistry, and calculus. I have scored within the top 5% or better on the BMAT, SAT, all 7 APs I have taken, and perfect scores in the Biology, Math, and Chemistry SATs. Furthermore, I have extensive experience in mathematics having taken courses on linear algebra, differential equations, partial differential equations, and multivariable calculus following AP calculus. I also have experience teaching in larger classroom settings as well as individualized personal tutoring.
In my free time, I am a paid editor for an online webnovel as well as a laboratory assistant.

Very nice and knowledgeable. He went above and Beyond my expectations. He helped me organize my thoughts onto paper and checked my grammar along with my punctuation. Thank you !
I received tutoring from Joshua over the summer in Pre-Calculus/Calculus, with hopes of skipping one math class in school. The textbook my school uses is non-conventional, in that it consists of only math problems and no concept explanations (besides for the occasional brief explanation included in a problem), and I often struggled with math homework in previous years.
Joshua is extremely proficient in multiple school subjects, math and science being his particular strong suits. Every time I had trouble with a problem, he was able to immediately and correctly identify to himself what larger concept the problem was trying to teach, and give me an overview of it as well as any tips about faster ways to approach the problem after I had found my initial solution. I thought his method of tutoring was excellent; he presented his hints in the form of questions to direct my line of thought towards the concept a problem exemplified, rather than outright telling me exactly what I had to do to solve it. Joshua emphasizes understanding how an answer makes sense in the mathematical context over simply getting the “perfect answer” and moving on, and thanks to his tutoring, I successfully placed into the math course I wanted.
I also studied for two SAT Subject Tests with Joshua, the Math 2 exam and the Biology exam, both of which he passed with top scores in high school. He was widely familiar with all the material covered in both exams, and once again was able to give helpful advice for answering questions quickly and accurately. Joshua always encouraged asking questions if I didn’t understand something, and we went over multiple practice exams, in which we reviewed not only the questions I missed, but any whose answers I was not sure about. A thorough and well-versed teacher, I highly recommend Joshua as a tutor
