About William
I am currently a medical student studying at the University of Exeter, but I have not always been successful academically. At first, I struggled significantly with my GCSEs, unsure of how to even begin revising for my exams. However, I spent two years developing an understanding of the specifications and honing my exam technique. Alongside this, I tried and mastered many revision techniques, which allowed me to memorise a vast amount of content quickly — a skill I now use extensively in my medical degree. In the end, I achieved 10 Grade 9s at GCSE, a testament to the effectiveness of the strategies I developed. Now, I would love to pass on these techniques to younger students, helping them not only understand the content but also build confidence in their revision approach, enabling them to achieve their full potential academically.

As a medical student at the University of Exeter, I have both a broad and deep understanding of the biological sciences. My academic achievements, including Grade 9s in all of my GCSE subjects and an A* in Biology at A-Level, came from a solid grasp of the specification, material and exam technique. My approach to tutoring centres on understanding my students' particular needs, and mapping out their strengths and weaknesses across the specification. After assessing these, I systematically tailor lessons to focus on explaining difficult concepts, answering any questions, and helping students develop effective revision techniques to maximise their understanding and exam performance. Typical lesson length is 60 mins, but I am happy to extend the session to 90 minutes if more time is needed for in-depth discussion or targeted revision. My expertise is best suited for GCSE Biology students aiming for grades 4-9 at GCSE.
