I discuss with students were they feel their weakest subject areas are, to allow us to focus on this within tutoring sessions. I focus on exam techniques and past papers to ensure that students are confident when entering their examinations with question styles and the content they will be faced with. Working through past papers also builds the students confidence in their own knowledge , and allows us to ensure that we cover all areas of the subject.
I believe in a very student led approach, as this will allow them to feel most comfortable and cover the areas that they truly believe that they need to focus on. This also allows students to really memorise and learn the information which they need, rather than being lectured at.
Occasional check ins and informal testing may be appropriate to show a students progress, and allow a student to increase in confidence.
I am a second year medical student currently. Although I currently have limited tutoring experience I personally achieved A*AA in biology, chemistry and maths at A level, and achieved 5A*s and 6As at GCSE.
I have tutored struggling GCSE students in both maths and biology, ensuring that they pass with at least a C, although many managed to achieve higher grades.
I have also tutored students through their medical school applications, giving valuable advice and tutoring on the UKCAT and interview preparation.

Amelia is a very kind natured tutor. She pushed me to achieve my full potential without making me feel like she pressured me or without making me feel bad for not being confident in my knowledge. She helped me to address not only the issues in my understanding but also issues in the way I was studying in my own time. She provided me with an all-round approach to improving my grades and also gave me advice on how to manage my stress and fears for the coming exams.
