About Ling
Hi! I’m a recent BFA graduate in Painting from the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA). I offer personalized lessons in drawing, painting, and illustration for beginners, teens, and students who want to strengthen their technical skills or develop a portfolio.
My lessons can cover observational drawing, proportion, composition, color, oil or acrylic painting, portraiture, still life, and creative image-making. I like to adjust each lesson to the student’s interests and current level rather than follow one fixed curriculum.
I also have experience working as a teaching assistant and can provide feedback and guidance for students developing an art portfolio, including selecting work, identifying areas to improve, and building a stronger body of work.
Whether you’re learning for fun, trying to improve your fundamentals, or thinking about applying to art school in the future, I’m happy to help you develop your skills at your own pace.

Each lesson is tailored to the student’s goals and experience level. We can work from observation, photographs, master studies, or personal ideas depending on what you want to learn.
For beginners, I can help build a strong foundation in drawing, value, color, perspective, and composition. For more experienced students, lessons can focus on painting technique, developing personal work, critique, and portfolio development.
I believe technical skills are important, but I also want students to understand why they are making certain choices and gradually develop their own visual language.
