About Janelle
My name is Janelle Lassalle and I'm an artist, author and content creator based in Los Angeles, CA.
I studied Art History in high school before going on to attend The University of California, Berkeley, where I majored in English and minored in film. It inspired me to want to work on film sets, which led to working with Art Departments on film sets as a personal assistant. It was here I learned how Production would source materials and transform them into props, which inspired me to begin creating for myself.
I've been painting ever since, working across both digital and physical mediums, and have learned a number of different techniques in that time. I utilize a number of different mediums in my work including acrylic inks, watercolors, alcoholic inks and genuine metallics such as gold leaf. My specialty is the "Pour Paint" style; I accept commission-based work but also often work with community events such as teaching senior citizens how to paint at retirement homes.

Hi there! As a long time tutor, big sister, auntie and former Disney Cast Member I have extensive experience not only working with kids, but in figuring out a fun approach to learning that doesn't feel overwhelming. I've been creating art for almost a decade now.
My art style focuses on Abstract Expressionism and color theory. During my lessons I'll go over the theory of these concepts briefly before helping you learn individual techniques that generate their own distinct styles. We'll learn about the types of mediums, supplies needed, safety applications, color theory, how to employ color theory strategically while painting, and how to blend different types of mediums together.
I focus on the Pour Paint technique which is a really fun way of creating paint very quickly and "pouring" it into canvases.
This is a very beginner friendly way to start making beautiful art easily, and this course is suitable for all student types.
