In my time as a Workshop Facilitator at Connection Arts Space , I've delivered dozens of learning services, mainly comprising of (but not limited to) ESL asylum seekers and refugees. I am highly capable of maneuvering around communication barriers, and know that when it comes to art, a lot of the knowledge is within the body. I encourage use of tools and practices/processes which encourage an embodied arts practice.
When I teach I am always seeking what it is, readily within the student, that wants to come out. I want to nurture strengths, and ammend weaknesses with an open heart and mind. Mistakes do not exist in my methodology, as I often find myself (and most of my past Lecturers/mentors) to be a catalyst for evoking these very mistakes; the ones which will allow true consolidation to happen. Whenever I have learnt I have first failed.
I will lead classes and sessions with a helping hand, but also a directed one, guiding when needed and trusting my student enough to commit to their journey.
