I'm a musician who can play guitar and sing. I took guitar lessons for four years and took some music classes in high school and community college. I have a lot of experience playing in bands.

About John
I have always loved music. My earliest childhood memories are of watching my dad party with his friends to vinyl records. I was mesmerized by a Beatles movie I saw on TV. I saw ladies chasing them down the street and I said to myself "Yes! That's cool!" I saw Fender Stratocaster guitars on MTV as a kid. When I saw that, I thought to myself, "That's what I want! I must get one!" So my mother gave me my first electric guitar and amplifier when I was 11. I started taking guitar lessons at a music store at age 13 and stopped at age 17. However, I have never stopped playing guitar for long. Most recently, I was in a band called the Kingston Beat All-stars. We played mostly Jamaican ska and reggae standards. I was in a band that supported the English Beat. I was in another band that was invited by whoever to be a supporting act for Sublime. I've played many countless gigs, sometimes as a solo guitarist.

I'll teach you what is necessary to play to the best of your ability. That would include chord progressions, scales, basic sight reading, basic techniques like plucking strings, and even how to play the songs you want to learn. I've been told that I'm a versatile player, and that's because I've played different kinds of music, such as reggae, Jamaican ska, "singer-songwriter", Spanish language music, and even hardcore punk. These lessons are for beginners, intermediate-level players, and even younger advanced players who want to learn from someone with decades and a whole lifetime of experience.
