About Mark
I am a neuroscience student who has tutored many A level biology and chemistry students as well as helped them achieve the best possible score they could. I have developed many strategies during my time as a student and believe that they will prove to be useful for any student looking to sit these A levels and pursue a future career in the biosciences.

When I tutor my students, my approach is composed of three main steps:
1) Read every single past paper available to you online before studying anything. (I am able to provide website links if you have not found any). You will now know what information to look for and what type of questions are most likely to come up. Look at points (usually the number of points credited is the same as the amount of facts/ concepts you will need to mention). You will not need to answer any questions at this point.
2) Look through summaries of the course content to familiarize yourself with the core information that you will need to know based on the style of questions from step 1. Only reading and highlighting will be necessary at this stage, however, if you feel that noting key terms would help then do so. I encourage the use of whiteboards as you can explain things more clearly to someone and ensure you thoroughly understand the concepts through active recall.
3) At this stage, you are now ready to begin answering questions from the past papers in step 1. For the first few papers, until you familiarize yourself with the answering process, you can look back at the summaries or bullet points until you're confident enough to proceed on your own. Usually, after 5 papers you will begin to get the hang of things. Do not look at the mark schemes until you need to correct your work. Make bullet points/ flashcards based on the mark scheme once you finished the paper. Essentially by doing this, you are making sure you know how to answer any style of question that comes up as you are familiarizing yourself with the most common points that come up repeatedly. Highlight any mistakes and copy down any questions which require you to describe a process so that you can answer them over and over again until you know exactly what to write if it comes up in the exam.
