Direct Distribution January 2015 – Current
Client Account Manager
This challenging and fast-paced role has taught me a great number of transferable skills. It is my responsibility to not only manage client’s marketing distribution campaigns but also to seek new clients and work towards sales targets each month. It is my responsibility to increase customer spend where possible and reach set targets. With regular sales meetings and recording all sales related activity in our computer system sales and targets are kept up to date and met if not exceeded each month against last year’s income. I regularly go to meet clients on my own, doing small presentations for marketing managers and assessing their needs and coming up with relevant proposals and quotes for their campaigns. I am also asked to go to conferences at least once per month as a delegate. This involves positively representing the company, networking with new businesses and current clients and making as many potential sales leads as possible to follow-up. I feel that this role has equipped me with the skills necessary in sales, management, client liaison, organisation to name a few.
Freelance Events coordinator Feb 2014 – August 2014
The Internship opportunity with Fablevision studios led to me being employed as a part-time freelance events coordinator for the company. My role was to support 8-10 young people to deliver the events and technical aspects of each project, working alongside a team of five artists and Fablevision Studios in order to support the young people in the planning and delivery of the stipulated outcomes of the events throughout this time.
I was the events manager/coordinator for the Govan Fair 2014. This incredibly challenging role provided me with fast-paced experience and multi-tasking on a daily basis was vital. Liaising with important partners, clients and stakeholders on a daily basis, overseeing all aspects of the event, managing a small team of event assistant staff, organising and applying for all licensing for the event, managing and planning fortnightly meetings and working closely with Strathclyde Police, fire & rescue, Glasgow city council, environmental health, The National Theatre of Scotland etc. meant that I had to be professional, concise and efficient at all times.
Fablevision Studios, Glasgow Nov 2013 – Feb 2014
This began as a 3 month Creative Internship which provided me with experience such as; events management, coordination, marketing, social media and client contracting. My duties included the co-ordination of the 'Behind the Scenes at the Fair' event at the Riverside museum in December 2013, working closely with the show-people of Scotland, the Riverside museum, the project organisers and Glasgow Life. I also was responsible for organising a heritage filming trip for voluntary staff within the company and helped with finding new contracts for projects, collaborations and filming services.
I volunteer at Maslow’s community shop in Govan & also manage online sales for the shop. This shop provides free clothing and household goods to refugees. Asylum seekers and other local people experiencing hardship. With the owner, we run the shop, take sales, re-stock the shop, make new displays and most importantly, engage with customers, offer help and talk to members of the public about the shop’s aims etc.
In the summer of 2014 I was a venue manager for ‘the Hearth’ tent at Solas Festival near Perth. I am doing the same role again this summer, 2016. My responsibilities included:
Monitoring stewards, getting audiences in and out of my venue smoothly, monitoring health and safety issues in the venue opening & closing the venue each day, introducing contributors, overseeing technical and sound aspects where necessary and Keeping the festival programme running on time and making sure Contributors adhere to session timings.
