About Alisha
Outside of my dental studies, I am a dedicated educator who values patience, deep empathy, and academic mentorship.
Having achieved an A in A-Level Psychology, I apply evidence-based techniques to help students improve memory retention, build effective study habits, and manage high-stakes exam anxiety. I am also deeply fascinated by complex scientific research at degree level and beyond, particularly in fields like genetics and stem cell therapy, which allows me to bring exciting, cutting-edge context into our biology lessons. My background in martial arts has instilled in me a deep sense of focus, discipline, and structured goal-setting, which I bring to my teaching style. I am particularly proud of my experience as a peer mentor, where I took a very shy, withdrawn student and coached them into becoming an open, highly confident individual who completely turned around their homework habits and school schedule. I strive to create a deeply supportive, completely non-judgmental environment where learners feel safe making mistakes, asking questions, and building the genuine self-confidence needed to unlock their full academic potential.
Furthermore if need-be, I can discuss information on getting into dental school (interviews especially) and info on career pathways such as medicine and other healthcare fields out there, as applications are just as difficult and can feel very lonely. I'm here to help!

I structure my 1-hour online lessons into two clear phases: first, mastering core scientific concepts and knowledge, and second, applying that knowledge to exam questions. For foundational and higher level GCSE and A-Level Biology, understanding the content deeply is essential before any test practice can happen. I break down complex biological processes—like cellular respiration mechanisms or genetic structure—using highly visual drawn models and interactive digital tools. Once the student understands the underlying science, we pivot immediately to real exam scripts, mark scheme terminology, and active recall drills. This further reinforces their comprehension and applies it to evidence-based logical analysis to answer clearly. Knowing the inside tips and tricks of exam technique can make all the difference, even despite knowing the content well. This dual approach ensures students build both academic confidence and precise exam execution.
As a 4th-Year Senior Dental Student who achieved an A in A-Level Biology and A* grades at GCSE, I bring an advanced level of scientific knowledge and clinical context to my classes. A Dental Degree equips me with many unique tools in teaching the ranging audiences complex procedures in a simpler way, and allowing them full autonomy in deciding what they wish to do throughout to feel safe and in control. I have over a year of face-to-face tutoring experience working with a broad range of students aged 6 to 18. My experience spans teaching both individual students and small groups. I have guided learners through both Higher levels to reach A*s and Foundation tier papers to score higher than they realised they could to open doors for their academic future. I have extensive experience also adapting my teaching methods for students with minor learning difficulties to ensure lessons remain accessible, engaging, and highly effective.
These tailored online sessions are designed specifically for GCSE and A-Level Biology students across all major UK exam boards, including AQA, OCR, and Edexcel. Whether a student is struggling to pass their foundation papers or aiming for top marks on higher-tier papers, I adapt my pacing to match their exact academic level. My background allows me to support younger students (ages 6–11) looking to build strong foundational science habits, while providing rigorous, intensive exam-technique prep for older teens navigating the high-pressure demands of their final GCSE and A-Level examinations.
