About Al
My name is Al! I am a graduate from Otis College of Art & Design with a BFA and a focus in Game & Entertainment Design as a concept artist. I currently do contract concept & 2D work for an indie game company for an unannounced video game, & I also do freelance commission work. I love bringing my art to life through strong storytelling, compelling character designs, & bringing color & composition to complete my pieces. I have also been a teacher in various fields for about 11 years (aquatic sports, tennis, & of course, art) & I really love being in a field where I can both teach what I know & learn from my students, because I view teaching as a sharing of knowledge. I really look forward to my lessons with future students!

Lessons are for all levels -- beginner to college level!
My expertise is in concept art, working mainly in both traditional & in digital 2D illustration, with plenty of experience in 3D. Storytelling & character design are my passions, so my work typically lies in comics and games, but I am well-rounded in most 2D & 3D tools for digital artists. Before a lesson, I typically like to ask my students where they feel they're at, & if they have a specific goal in mind. However, if they don't I usually start teaching them principles of design while gauging their skill level. My lessons are completely oriented around the student's needs, so they can be lesson-based or project-based.
