About James
Having recently graduated from Oxford with a 1st Class BA in History, I love helping young students maximise their potential in the subject.
My first love, however, was English Literature, in which I attained A*s at both GCSE and A-Level, on top of winning an academic scholarship to my sixth form college.
I believe that fundamental to both subjects is the ability to make strong arguments, think critically, and write engaging prose. It is building and refining these skills which I try to work on with my students.
I am also able to prepare students for specific exam boards, knowing all too well the importance of writing to a mark scheme and showing the examiner 'what they are looking for'.
I have previous experience tutoring A-Level students for a charity called Tutor the Nation.
