I unashamedly love physics and mathematics and use my enjoyment to foster a similar excitement in my pupils. My way of tutoring is to inspire my pupils to want to do well. The best teachers I have come across at school and university are not necessarily the ones with the best knowledge, they are the ones whose classes I have left thinking, "I really want to do well in this for them as well as for myself". I try to instil the same feelings in my pupils by generating a rapport with them and I believe this is achieved by my easy-going and likeable nature.
Approach to examinations nowadays requires more than just knowledge of the core syllabus. As someone who has only recently gone through the rigmarole of school and university I can offer practical advice on exam preparation and revision as well as what I like to term 'playing the examiner', the technique of actually sitting the exam and ensuring that you are putting down exactly what the exam board wants to see in its most concise, clear and rapid form.
I am a keen chess player and avid exteme sports enthusiast. I particularly enjoy mountaineering, kitesurfing, skydiving and scuba diving.
I am a full-time educational consultant for the UK branch of BE Education, where I focus on tuition, applications and mentoring. In my free time I run a YouTube channel which provides detailed model answers to past papers in all UK public exams, Oxford physics past papers and some additional (mostly university) papers as requested. I have 8 years and 2000+ hours of private tuition experience teaching science & mathematics and in helping students prepare for applications to independent schools and Oxbridge. I have taught students the 11+ Pre-Test, 13+ Common Entrance & Scholarship papers, GCSE/IGCSE, A level, IB, Cambridge Pre-U, Oxford, Cambridge and Imperial Physics Aptitude (PAT) and Mathematics Admissions (MAT) tests. I am familiar with the WJEC, Edexcel, AQA and OCR A level exam syllabusses. I hold a Ba (Hons) in Physics from the University of Oxford.
I graduated from St Catherine's College, University of Oxford with a Ba (Hons) in Physics. Having completed the core modules in first and second year I went on to specialise in Astrophysics, Quantum Mechanics and Fluid Dynamics. I submitted a paper on 'High speed measurements of high temperature and pressure in high strain rate experiments' (try saying that with a sore throat) as part of my third year project. I also completed a course on teaching physics in schools for the Oxford department of education and submitted a paper on the difficulties faced by students in understanding electricity at GCSE level.
Prior to Oxford I attended Eton College where I left with three A* Physics, Mathematics and Further Mathematics A levels and an A in Chemistry AS.
