About Thomas
I am a painter in oils and acrylics with over ten years of experience. Focusing on landscapes and still lifes, I am influenced by impressionist, post-impressionist and colourist movements of Northern France, Canada, America and the USSR. My own painting is heavily guided by an interest in dynamic composition and strong use of colour.

I take on students of all ages for face-to-face, one-to-one lessons both at their home or mine, or indeed outdoors for plein-air lessons. I am open to online courses too.
Lessons usually last an hour and involve working on a single subject or reference photograph together with the goal of preparing a complete first draft that the student can then take away to finish off or rework in between lessons.
I will provide tailored guidance on materials, technique, composition, use of colour, among other topics.

Perfect! Really enjoyed my first lesson with Thomas. He’s patient, friendly and encouraging, and tailored the lesson plan around the artists I like and how I prefer to learn. He guided me as I painted, demonstrated when helpful, and finished with constructive feedback plus exercises to practise before next time. I came away feeling really positive and would definitely recommend him.
- I enjoyed the lesson with Ali very much. She already possesses strong abilities in several mediums and so further developing her acrylic painting will I'm sure be relatively easy with time/practice.Thomas's response :
