About Melissa
I was born to be a teacher. There is nothing else I have ever wanted to do or be. I love what I do and have fun daily. Students love my class and I have plenty of amazing stories of success to prove it. Over 85% of my students say that their relationship with reading is either “a bit or much more positive” after just one academic year with me.

My lessons and curriculum are created with young people in mind—engaging and relevant. No busy work. Making connections and chunking are two of my favorite strategies. We meet standards and expectations in ways that not many are bold enough to try. I am not afraid to try new things and take risks with my content if it engages my students and ultimately shows growth.
