About Amy
Hi,
My name is Amy, lovely to meet you!
English tutoring has been a personal passion of mine for many years, and since completing my Linguistics degree in 2013 I have thoroughly enjoyed helping children achieve their potential and more.
I believe in a very flexible teaching style, as no two children are the same. However, what I do ensure I have in all of my lessons is plenty of fun, positivity and patience. I find simple things such as an encouraging smile and relaxing environment can make the biggest difference. After our first meeting, I will work on a personalised lesson plan, including achievable goals, that is designed to suit the individual.
On top of a very in depth knowledge of the subject, I also enjoy creative writing in my spare time. I bring this balance of academia and creativity to my lessons as well. I thoroughly enjoy exploring all these elements with my students, helping them to see beyond the ‘textbook’ English.
I am happy to tailor my lessons around the National Curriculum, alternatively I can teach English as a skill to improve reading, writing and comprehension as a whole. I have experience in tutoring children with dyslexia, and I specialised in teaching English as a second language as part of my degree.
I am willing to provide support in any of these areas for all primary and secondary school ages, up to and including GCSE level.
