About Jade
I have taught Introduction to Women’s and Gender Studies and Introduction to Queer Studies numerous times in my tenure as a PhD Candidate.
I engage the material and students social location with an open mind, understanding that all people learn differently. I work with students using a range of formats, including visual, written text, and video material to optimize learning.
I am looking forward to implementing a personalized plan that meets your specific needs and interests. At a time when classes and departments of gender and ethnic studies are under growing exclusion, teaching and sharing knowledge about gender, sexual, racial, and class liberation is increasingly important. Lessons can be lectures for the purposes of learning, while I can also help you with homework, essays, and assignments. If you would like more than one session with me, I can create a syllabus plan and "course" of your own. The duration can range from a few sessions to weeks to months. Let me know what your purpose and interests are, and I am happy to work with you to create the best plan for you.

I am happy to create a personalized lesson plan for you! Depending on your needs:
1) I can lecture and conduct lessons in the Humanities topic of your choice, pertaining to human ethics, activist movements, feminism, race, gender, sexuality, American culture, and systems of power. Students will complete lessons with knowledge relevant to history and contemporary society, develop their own voice, and make arguments backed up by scholarly evidence.
2) We can work together to complete a written document, manuscript, or project with guidance from me as a research, reading, and writing tutor.
3) I can tutor you in an English, reading or writing course you are already taking.
4) I can make a syllabus for you with assigned readings and content on the topic you are interested in. We can have regular lessons following the syllabus, or meet a minimum of 2 times to guide you on your work if you choose to complete the syllabus alone.
I believe in access and meeting students where they are at. Disability is not considered a special case and I will work with you to create an optimal learning environment. I will provide readings, slides, and lectures in your topic of choice in my areas of specialization.

Details
Rates depend on my time availability and include the work I do outside of sessions. As a PhD Candidate, my time is limited due to dissertation writing, scholarly publications, and teaching courses at a university. I consider my tutoring clients as students, and take extra time to do supplemental research and curate personalized lesson plans outside of sessions to ensure they get the most value out of our work together.
