About Sourav
As a PhD candidate and Sessional Academic at Monash University, I bring both academic expertise and practical teaching experience to every session. I have taught Genetics, Molecular Biology, and Computational Biology to undergraduate and postgraduate students, and I understand the challenges that come with mastering complex scientific concepts. My teaching approach is centered on building conceptual clarity and encouraging active engagement. I integrate traditional lecture-style explanations with interactive discussions, real-world examples, and data-driven problem-solving exercises to make complex topics in Genetics, Molecular Biology, and Computational Biology more accessible and engaging. I also place strong emphasis on critical thinking and independent analysis, especially when guiding students through bioinformatics workflows or molecular data interpretation.
I tailor my teaching methodology based on the student’s level and learning pace—using visual aids, hands-on coding sessions, and step-by-step breakdowns of difficult concepts. I also make use of formative assessments and feedback to ensure continuous progress.
A typical lesson lasts between 60 to 90 minutes, depending on the topic and the student's needs. This allows enough time for both instruction and discussion, including time for questions and revision.
I have experience mentoring students from diverse academic backgrounds and skill levels, including those new to biological sciences and those preparing for advanced research or postgraduate study.
My lessons are ideal for university-level students (both undergraduate and postgraduate), as well as advanced high school students looking to strengthen their understanding or prepare for university-level studies in life sciences.
