About Kirsten
I'm a PhD student in microbiology based in Cape Town. I've always loved math and science and I enjoy helping others achieve that same appreciation! I’ve tutored both school and university students in biology and related subjects, and I bring patience, structure, and encouragement to every lesson. Outside of research, I’m a runner, hiker, and all-round science nerd who believes learning should feel empowering, not stressful.

Hi, I'm Kirsten! I'm a PhD student doing research with a love for science on all levels and data analysis! My approach is calm, structured and I hope to make students feel confident in the topic (rather than just memorizing facts). I am proficient in English and offer lessons in high school science, including biology, chemistry and physics, and high school mathematics, either NSC or IEB level. In a typical session, we’ll start by figuring out what you already understand and what’s feeling tricky, then break things down step by step until it makes a bit more sense. I like to keep lessons interactive and practical - for science and math, practice truly does make perfect! I always encourage asking as many questions as you like, and we’ll work through examples together until you’re confident. I welcome anybody looking for extra tutoring, whether you are aiming to finally get to grips with a tricky subject, or if you're aiming for that distinction.
