About Dylan
Hi, I’m Dylan — a private-school English and Humanities teacher with a PhD background in Philosophy and IB training in Theory of Knowledge. I help students build confidence, clarity, and a genuine love of ideas. My tutoring style is calm, conversational, and encouraging. I meet students where they are — helping them strengthen their writing, critical thinking, and time-management skills in ways that feel personal and achievable. What sets me apart is the blend of academic depth, empathy, and approachability I bring to every lesson. I work with students from middle school to university, including IB, gifted, and neurodiverse learners, through a structured, individualized approach that helps each one thrive. My goal is simple: to help every student think clearly, write beautifully, and believe in themselves.

My approach is inquiry-based and conversational. I help students learn by exploring big questions, making real-world connections, and developing their authentic voice. Every lesson blends structure with dialogue — students don’t just memorize answers; they learn to think clearly and express ideas with confidence.
A typical session begins with a quick check-in on goals and challenges, followed by focused skill-building in writing, reading, or critical thinking. We might analyze a passage, break down an argument, or explore a philosophical idea that connects to their coursework. I adapt pacing and tone for each learner, ensuring they feel supported and challenged in equal measure.
I have growing experience supporting neurodiverse learners, including students with ADHD, ASD, and executive functioning challenges. My calm, individualized approach helps each student build focus, confidence, and self-belief.
What sets me apart is my background — I hold a PhD (ABD) in Philosophy and I’m IB-trained in Theory of Knowledge. This allows me to combine academic rigour with empathy and creativity. My lessons are ideal for middle school, high school, and university students who want to sharpen their writing, strengthen their thinking, and rediscover a love of ideas.
