About BRENDAN
I’m a trained political scientist with experience teaching Political Science, Comparative History, and International Relations at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. I spent over four years doing ethnographic field research in East Africa for my dissertation, which deeply informs how I teach global politics, history, and international affairs.
My teaching style is clear, conversational, and focused on helping students really understand complex ideas — not just memorize them. I’m especially good at breaking down theory, connecting it to real-world politics, and helping students strengthen their writing and analytical skills.
Earlier in my career, I also worked as an elementary and middle school teacher, teaching third and fourth grade as a classroom teacher and math through eighth grade, which shaped my patient, structured, and student-centered approach. Whether you’re working on college coursework, essays, or big-picture understanding, I aim to make learning rigorous but approachable.
