About Thomas
I hold a Bachelors degree in music (1st class hons. with graduand composition prize) and a Masters degree in musicology (distinction) from Royal Holloway. I am also currently in the midst of writing a research proposal for further Doctoral (PhD) studies. I am a published composer of contemporary classical music and have had works performed at concerts across the UK. I have also written music for film, television, and advertising for the likes of the BBC and Universal. In terms of instruments I am mainly a cellist and more occasionally pianist.

I focus on a practical approach to music tuition with a choice of 30, 45, and 60 minute lessons depending on the student's personal or exam-based aims. Depending on the needs of the student my lessons can either take place in person or online (or a mix of both) and will involve theoretical and exercise-based study alongside practical music-making activities to boost student understanding of the subject area in relation to their skills/instrumental lessons and/or wider musical context. Typically I teach secondary and 6th-form students but welcome enquires from younger and older students looking to increase their theory and composition skills whether for fun or in preparation for music, funding, or entrance exams.
