About Andra
As a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at one of London’s premier cancer research institutes, I dedicated my career to understanding the intricacies of life at a molecular and cellular level. My academic journey-spanning a BSc in Biomedical Science, an MSc in Translational Oncology, and a PhD in Cancer Biology- has provided me with a profound and comprehensive understanding of the biological sciences.
I believe that the best scientists are those who can communicate complex ideas simply. Throughout my years in the laboratory and academia, I have mentored numerous students, helping them navigate the transition from basic theory to advanced scientific application. My background is unique in its breadth: from conducting high-impact research into cancer pathways to performing extensive human cadaveric dissections, I offer my students a rare, hands-on perspective on anatomy and physiology that goes far beyond the standard textbook.
I am a professional, patient, and highly organised educator. My goal is not just to help you pass an exam, but to inspire the same curiosity and passion for science that led me to the research bench. My teaching philosophy is built on the same principles as high-level research: inquiry, visualisation, and application. I don't believe in rote memorisation. Instead, I help you understand the "logic" of biological systems. If you understand why a cell behaves a certain way at a molecular level, you will never have to "memorise" a pathway again.
My Methodology
I utilise a three-pillar system to ensure you master the material:
Visual Mapping: Using my background in anatomy and cell biology, I use diagrams and structural breakdowns to help you "see" the science.
Active Recall & Case Studies: We will apply your knowledge to real-world scenarios—such as how a specific mutation leads to clinical symptoms—to solidify your understanding.
Scientific Literacy: I teach you how to read papers, interpret data, and write with the precision of a PhD, which is essential for hitting those top-tier marking criteria.
Lesson Structure & Logistics:
Duration: Lessons are typically 60 or 90 minutes. For university-level content, I recommend 90-minute sessions to allow for deep-dive discussions and complex problem-solving.
Format: I provide a tailored summary of our session and a "deep-dive" question for you to consider before our next meeting.
Experience & Qualifications While I am a Postdoctoral Fellow working at the cutting edge of cancer research, I have spent years mentoring junior researchers and master’s, undergraduate and pharmacy students in the lab. I hold a PhD in Cancer Biology, an MSc in Translational Oncology, and a BSc in Biomedical Science. My experience with human cadaveric dissection allows me to offer a level of anatomical insight that few tutors can match.
