About Matt
I very much believe in a mentor/mentee relationship between student and teacher. I'm not a performer who just teaches music on the side. I strongly believe in passing along the knowledge of music, and as a performer, teaching others how to play music just makes me a better musician, all around. So, I approach my job as a teacher with the utmost professionalism, the same way I would approach performing in some of the most luxurious, authentic and legendary music venues in New York City
II have my own dedicated office that is exclusively for teaching my students who wish to have "in person" lessons. And for my online students, I have a professional audio set up that I've been using since before 2020. In fact, when most music teachers moved their lessons online due to the pandemic, I had already been experienced for nearly 5 years or more at teaching students online. So, it is a skill that I have honed and make a personal goal that my online lessons are just as effective as my "in person" lessons.

Hello Students!! I've been a professional, performing musician and private music teacher for nearly 20 years in New York City. I have a unique perspective as an established, jazz musician in the most competitive city in the world to be a performing musician. I believe that teaching others how to play music is an integral part to being a musician, and I approach my work as a teacher with equal amounts of passion and excitement as I do being a performer. I have taught students that range from the early elementary school years, up to the retirement and senior citizen years, and it is my job to figure out how to teach to each student's specific goals and needs. My favorite moments as a teacher are when I can help a younger student to realize their hidden potential, and then when I'm able to enlighten all of my adult and senior citizen students to the fact that you are never too old to learn an instrument, even if you have zero musical experience. You just need a patient, dedicated, and imaginative teacher! I look forward to seeing you at your first lesson!

- Super quick learner. Excellent technique on the instrument already. Great intonation and ability to hear music and perform swing rhythms.
