About Carol
I am a professional violinist and pianist/Mandarin teacher. I have been giving private and group lessons since 1995. I graduated from Peabody Conservatory of Johns Hopkins with a Master of Music degree and also studied jazz at the same time. I teach classical, jazz, pop. (Improvisation) I have taught in Baltimore School for the Arts High School, Nan-Shan Junior High School, Garden Street Music School, Florentine School, Lighthouse Academy.

My teaching methods are a combination of traditional, Suzuki, and emphasis on ways to relax while playing an instrument. I think foundation is important, which are posture, scales and arpeggios, finger/hand/arm exercises, sight reading, and ear training. By combining the above factors, students can learn a song stylistically, rhythmically, and intonation correct, and it encourages them to go for harder pieces due to the positive experience they have had in the past. Depending on the situation, I also give students the flexibility to pick their favorite songs in any styles they like, I think motivation is the key to learn anything well. I am also specialized in ABRSM and RCM exams.

Perfect! Carol's aesthetic sensibilities were immediately picked up on by my four year old, who immediately learned five songs in the first lesson. Commitment to making a beautiful sound throughout the practice was integral. Excellent tutelage!
