I have been a tutor of English for 10 years, and an educator for 15 years. I was an English and P. E teacher in the UK, but now I am a Professor of English and Research at Judson university and Elgin Community College for the last 5 years. My PhD is in Literacy, Language, and Culture, and my master’s degree is in Writing and Publishing. My global teaching experiences means I have a great understanding of different educational systems and learning styles/backgrounds. My PhD has afforded me the opportunity to become a reading specialist, as well as a tutor who truly caters to her student's individual needs; helping them to set goals and become autonomous learners, and seekers of knowledge. I am a supportive tutor, who respects my student's agency, all whilst pushing them to stretch themselves. I have tutored from 3rd grade to 12th grade students mainly, but I have been on over two dozen dissertation committees. I edit and shape my candidates’ dissertations, helping them think critically about their important work. I make my interactions and learning fun, but also incredibly informative.
