Do you want to take a practical approach to IOT (internet of things)?
First we take a helicopter level view of the pieces to this fascinating puzzle and then delve into the areas that are of interest to you.
Explore electronic design - looking at circuits, specifications and how signals flow in microcontrollers. Check out the simulation and design tools
Get an introduction to communications like wifi, serial, I2C, SPI etc and how protocols talk.
Grasp how to "interface" hardware - making consideration for the physical limits of components and devices. Read datasheets, to understand voltage ratings, current limits, safe operating area, timing and much more.
Scrutinise physical properties and choose the right sensor to capture the magic.
Look into the vast array of software coding options - and make use of the simpler/more popular items, like MySql, PHP, Arduino, Javascript, HTML etc
Finally the making phase, where your plans become reality. Learn to assemble components, solder, interconnect modules and mount in a housing. Be effective and safe with test equipment like multimeters & oscilloscope. Learn the importance of documentation and use simple techniques to capture your hard earned work...so that you can share your knowledge and/or support/develop further in the future
