As a teacher I bring enthusiasm, professionalism and dedication to my classes. When working with students my aim is to boost their confidence, and in turn their ability, through friendly, patient and creative tutoring, which the student finds both enjoyable and challenging. I strongly believe that listening to the students’ needs and concerns is the most effective way of quickly and accurately identifying and addressing their specific areas of development. I also like to create individual learning plans for my students, which include weekly and monthly targets and regular reviews of their progress.
As a dyslexia tutor, I am able to utilise a range of non-traditional learning strategies and techniques which encourage creative approaches to learning, are tailored towards the individual strengths and talents of the learner and crucially, develop their levels of confidence and self-belief.
I am a qualified and experienced Secondary English teacher with eight years teaching experience. I have previously taught English Literature and Language at both GCSE and A Level. I therefore have a good knowledge of the various exam boards, including AQA, OCR and Edexcel.
I also have four years’ experience teaching English for Academic Purposes and English Language in UK Universities. Most recently I have worked for a London university where I helped both undergraduate and postgraduate students develop their academic writing and English Language skills.
I am also a qualified Dyslexia Tutor and a professional member of the British Dyslexia Association. In this role, I have enabled learners to improve their literacy skills and confidence by creating lessons and resources tailored to the students unique learning style.
Alongside tutoring students for their exams, I can also help with improving study skills, general proofreading, communication skills, writing CVs and preparation of interviews.
I have a real passion for teaching all aspects of English and take pride in developing my students’ confidence in their academic abilities and truly enjoy the rewards of enabling them to succeed in their exams.
