As a teacher I bring enthusiasm, professionalism and dedication to my classes. When working with students my aim is to boost their confidence, and in turn their ability, through friendly, patient and creative tutoring, which the student finds both enjoyable and challenging.
I use a range of methods including task based lessons and PPP. I can tailor lessons to suit students needs and diagnostic testing. I can create lessons from set supporting material but I have created a great deal of my own lessons using materials that I have collected over the years.
My teaching style is largely based making sure the student is happy and confident whilst learning. I try to make my lessons fun and engaging whilst also offering practical skills and 'insider knowledge' from having completed many English-based qualifications myself.
My overall approach to tutoring heavily relies on strong communication skills, as I believe that any student can receive top grades if they are able to understand what is needed from them and how they can achieve this. It is also important that they feel comfortable in their learning environment, and feel confident that they can reach their targets.
The underpinning basis for my teaching methodology is differentiation-this is particularly important when tutoring a variety of students. I carefully break lessons down into achievable parts to give students confidence, set clear criteria for success, offer examplars wherever possible and try to convey my enthusiasm for my subject.
