About Natasha
I am a full-time English tutor with 23 years experience in teaching primary, secondary and further education.
I provide individual and small group tutoring for children, young people and adults who need support with English and would like to improve their confidence in their abilities.
In addition, I provide specialist tuition and learning support for students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) who find coping in a school or college environment challenging and may need additional tutoring, guidance and support in the following specialised areas:
Autism spectrum disorder (ASD), high-functioning autism (Asperger syndrome), attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), delayed learning development (DLD), global developmental delay (GLD), sensory processing disorder (SPD), dyslexia, dysgraphia, focus and concentration difficulties, and other special educational needs.
I also support students with managing anxiety.

I have a calm, patient and encouraging approach. Listening and reflecting are very important for developing a good rapport, so I am always keen to get to know what my students are interested in, what motivates them and what is meaningful to them. I am personable and friendly so that I can build a trusting relationship with my pupils.
My tutoring sessions are designed to be engaging, stimulating and enjoyable, placing emphasis on learning and progress. Being approachable and non-judgmental opens the lines of communication and creates a platform for my students to confidently ask questions and share with me how they feel they are progressing. I provide constructive feedback to pupils in a way that improves confidence in their own ability.
Using flexible and creative lesson planning, I tailor my lessons to meet individual learning requirements. For example, breaking down a task into smaller, achievable steps makes it more easily understood and mentally manageable. I will set regular tasks and activities to ensure full understanding of what we are learning.
I will identify strengths and areas to improve and create strategies and goals that are right for my student`s individual learning needs. I am usually able to evaluate these needs within the first session. I also liaise with teachers and schools to identify areas to work on and monitor progress and actively seek new teaching methods where required.
Professional, organised, and with an excellent knowledge of my subject area, I stay up to date with the ever-changing Key Stage curriculum and exam requirements.
I have a ‘can do’ attitude and communicate positive expectations by showing my students that I believe they have the ability to do well and achieve through my unwavering encouragement and enthusiasm. I take great pride in championing my students. Positive reinforcement helps to acknowledge their skills and strengths and enhances understanding and enjoyment in learning.
My students` success is my number one priority. My aim is to provide the right support so that they can progress to the very best of their ability. In a nutshell, I have a love for teaching and helping people learn.
My experience:
• Special educational needs and disabilities (SEND)
• Primary: Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2
• Secondary & GCSE: Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4
• 11 Plus English exam
• English as a Foreign Language (EFL)
• Functional Skills English: Further education (FE)
• Speaking Listening and Communication
Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) in Further Education (FE)
Providing individual and small group support, I teach English, maths and practical life skills to students aged 16 to 26 with mild-to-moderate additional and special educational needs and disabilities. Lessons take place in schools and colleges or in the student’s home.
Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) in Primary and Secondary Education (KS1 and KS2)
Providing individual and small group support. I prepare resources, develop and adapt conventional teaching methods to meet the individual needs of pupils and collaborate with the classroom teacher to define appropriate activities for pupils in relation to the curriculum. Lessons take place at school or in the pupil’s home and I work closely with parents and guardians.
Primary: Key Stage 1 & Key Stage 2
I tutor mixed-ability pupils on an individual or small-group basis to support and develop their learning. I work closely with my pupils using a variety of teaching methods. Developing individual structured lesson plans and resources tailored to the pupil’s needs and learning styles enables me to determine a pupil`s strengths and weaknesses and how they learn best. Upon request, I will provide post-lesson written or verbal feedback to parents about their child’s progress in lessons.
Secondary: Key Stage 3 & Key Stage 4
GCSE English tutoring
I am experienced in supporting students with English from Year 7 to Year 11. I offer tailored personal tutoring to prepare students for their literature and language GCSEs. I am familiar with the AQA, Edexcel and OCR exam boards.
I provide tuition for:
• exam preparation, revision and study skills
• promoting a deeper understanding of course materials
• revising with past papers
• GCSE retakes
• building confidence with exams
11 Plus English Exam
I have successfully prepared Year 6 pupils for their 11 Plus English exams towards their target schools. My tuition covers Comprehension, Verbal Reasoning and Non-Verbal Reasoning. This is a challenging time for children where they can feel apprehensive about their 11 Plus exams. As well as supporting pupils academically, being mindful of their emotional well-being and helping them to feel calm and collected in readiness for their exams are part and parcel of my tutoring process. I am familiar with the formats of the following exam boards: CEM, GL, ISEB, Bond.
English as a Foreign Language (EFL)
I help non-native speakers of all ages and levels learn the formal grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation of spoken and written English, while giving them confidence in the common usage of the language in order to communicate clearly and comfortably with native English speakers.
Functional Skills English EL1 to Level 2
Includes the planning and delivery of high-quality teaching, learning and assessment. My students have achieved success rates that were consistently above the national average pass rates, and I was commended by OFSTED on the high quality of my teaching, assessments and resources.
Speaking, Listening and Communication
As an experienced Speaking, Listening and Communication tutor I have achieved fantastic success with some of the most nervous and anxious individuals who have been convinced that they will never be able to speak publicly. It is greatly rewarding to watch my students’ confidence grow and flourish as we work together.

I have been a close friend of Natasha for 21 years. We met and clicked instantly when we studied for our PGCE at Cardiff University.
There are a number of things I could highlight about her, but the key areas that make her a unique individual are her levels of empathy and compassion. She has an acute ability to demonstrate understanding to others. Linked with this is her fierce loyalty towards her friends or her endeavours. Any project or job that Natasha undertakes will be done with a gnawing desire to get right. This is what makes her a brilliant tutor, because her students will have a loyal, encouraging and dedicated tutor who would effortlessly adapt her skills to meet their different needs.
Natasha is highly professional and takes pride in the way she comes across. Always being her authentic self and never striving just to ‘fit in’. She knows her value and self-worth as a woman and tutor. This makes her wonderful company, as well as having a sharp sense of humour!
Natasha is highly skilled and has many years working with young people facilitating their development academically and personally. She has cultivated these skills in a way so that nothing will faze her in supporting someone with their learning. She comes highly recommended.
