About Agnes
Hello, I’m Agnes, a qualified primary school teacher with a PGCE, QTS and over ten years’ experience in education. I have taught Years 2, 4, 5 and 6, as well as working across EYFS to Key Stage 3 through supply teaching. One of my proudest achievements was supporting 86% of my Year 6 class to achieve the expected standard across reading, writing and maths.
Before qualifying as a teacher, I worked as a teaching assistant, intervention teacher and one-to-one SEN support assistant. This gave me valuable experience of supporting pupils with autism, ADHD, dyslexia, dyspraxia and other additional needs. I have also worked as a school Computing Lead and currently tutor children from Years 3 to 9 in English and maths.
I’m patient, approachable and reliable, and I genuinely enjoy helping children realise that they are more capable than they may believe. I understand that inviting a tutor to support your child requires trust, so I communicate openly with parents and always prepare carefully for each lesson. My goal is to provide professional, dependable support while helping every pupil feel comfortable, encouraged and proud of their progress.

Every child learns differently, so I don’t believe in using the same lesson for every pupil. I take time to get to know each student, understand what they find difficult and discover what helps learning click for them. I want my pupils to feel relaxed enough to ask questions, make mistakes and have another go without worrying about getting everything right the first time.
My lessons are friendly and encouraging while still having a clear purpose. I use a mixture of explanations, worked examples, games, practical activities, visual resources and digital tools to keep learning interesting. I normally show pupils how to complete a task, work through examples with them and then support them as they try independently. If one explanation doesn’t work, I’ll happily find another way.
Lessons usually last one hour and include a short starter, focused teaching, practice and a final review. I celebrate progress, however small, and keep parents updated about what is going well and what we will work on next.

My lessons are for pupils in Years 3–9 who need help with English, maths, homework, SATs, 11+ preparation or simply rebuilding their confidence.

I met Agnes through a recommendation from a work colleague, and she went on to tutor my step son. We saw a clear improvement in his grades while working with her. Agnes was extremely patient and took the time to understand his individual learning style, adapting her teaching methods to help him feel more confident and engaged. She is knowledgeable, supportive and genuinely committed to helping her students progress. I would highly recommend Agnes to any family looking for a reliable and encouraging tutor.
