As well as being an amazind teacher, explaining things clearly and finding ways to help you learn the best, she will also go over and above to do things like give you extra lesson time to make sure you know things and provide good resources. As one of Miriam's English teachers during her Year 10 stay in Macclesfield, I feel well placed to offer a reference for her regarding her English language ability and her work ethic, both of which are very good.
During her time at All Hallows' Catholic High School, Miriam took part in a full curriculum, at the end of which she gained a Level 2 in both Adult Literacy and in Adult Numeracy exams by Edexcel and a Grade B Science GCSE. She studied all the necessary texts for the GCSEs she would have taken in English at the end of Year 11 had she stayed in England.
We have maintained regular contact since Miriam returned to Portugal in 2007; I was particularly pleased when she came back to England to study at Nottingham University and gained an MSc last year.
