About Benedict

I have always been fascinated by Shakespeare and his contemporaries but have not always found his work approachable, beginning at school the teaching was often dry, boring and made very little sense. Since then I have come to see Shakespeare's works like a door, sometimes an intimidating or imposing one, to which every person must find their own key, find the key (and there always is one), unlock the door and behind it lies the richest world in the English language. This is a world I want to help unlock for everyone and I look forward to finding your key with you.

About the lesson

I utilise techniques I have learned studying at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, under John Bescitzza and Annie Tyson, combining an initial analysis of the text through table work with practical approaches. My work is influenced by Meisner, Stanislavsky, Laban and many others. We will examine the text both through the body and vocally and then work towards a balanced synthesis. Ultimately every actor/student is different and there is no catch-all approach so once we have assessed your choices, your personal strengths and what you are unfamiliar with I will develop a personalised approach. I am also always happy to provide help finding/choosing the monologue or piece that best suits.

The work with Benedict is super enriching!
The working atmosphere is very clear, focused, open, positive, and playful.
I felt very free and safe to explore. For my auditions I had to prepare two classical (Shakespearean) and two modern monologues.
He listend very carefully to my ideas, needs, visions and helped me find my own way.
It was great to work on the classical speeches, as through the work with Benedict, who with his huge knowledge and skill in specifically Shakespearean texts, I found an ease and personal approach to the character.
I am so grateful for the encouragement and energy Benedict gave during our work as it fueled my enthusiasm in acting.
I absolutely recommend Benedict to anyone who searches for professional help for auditions and monologue work.
