My teaching style will adapt to as we work together but in general my method is to go over the fundamentals, do a few guided examples and then supervise and encourage individual work, with me being close by to correct or support. Maths and similar subjects that I teach are very much strategy based. If you know the steps to tackle a type of question you can easy answer it.
Equally happy to teach what will be needed for a certain exam or a more comprehensive set of skills that may be used throughout. A first meeting would be useful to determine our goals.
I have been in formally tutoring friends/classmates for at least a decade. Maths has always been a strength of mine and I've always helped my friends through high school/University. Formally I have taught 3 boys (13-20) and two girls (15/19) and both tutees and parents have been happy. None of them have needed to resit an exam and one of the girls went from a predicted D to A I none semester.
