About Jodi
I am a younger retired teacher with 30 years of experience, a Master's in Teaching Reading, and also 20 years of being National Board Certified in Literacy.
Teaching reading and writing were my favorite subjects because once the student starts to build confidence and skills in reading, it’s really rewarding to watch.
I taught Kinder-6th grade reading, language arts, and English to ELL’s. I also provided professional development to teachers in the area of reading as an expert in Reading Recovery, Balanced Literacy, Whole Language, DIBELS, and LETRS.

With over 30 years of experience and a Master's in Teaching Reading, I will diagnose the reading difficulties and then work on an individualized plan to help improve reading skills and build confidence.
Most students have issues with reading comprehension or fluency, but I will also determine if they have missed something in phonics, word recognition, or phonemic awareness. Working on all five of those components in a lesson is key to building the practice and confidence needed to read on or above grade level.
