About Janie
Hello! I have just recently taken early retirement from a Nebraska public school district where I taught for 20 years. In total I have 31 years of teaching experience in both the middle and high school area of social sciences. If you need help in history, psychology, sociology, civics, or geography then I am your person! I have always had a good working relationship with my students, one that has been based on mutual respect of one another as well as the subjects being discussed. Students have always been a strong passion of mine and I hope to continue working with young people in the future.

I have used a variety of techniques over the tenure of my teaching career. I like to be hands on if in person. If over Zoom I prefer to do a lot of discussion and do things together.
A typical lesson may include an intro, main points of discussion, visuals, video clips and conclusion.
I have many traits that make me a good candidate for tutoring. Not only do I have 31 years of teaching experience under my belt but also am currently tutoring Chinese students both in the US and in China part time.
My lessons are typically geared towards the average student 7-12 in the social sciences.
