My lessons involve me asking first - What do you want to achieve? Rather than the textbook approach of throwing classical pieces at youngsters and boring chord sheets at students who want to learn metallica solos, I like to think that the aims, goals and ambitions of the player are the most key aspect to look at before anything else.
I break things down section by section, promote a relaxed, friendly teaching environment and go by the "you need to learn to walk before you can run" ethos involving routine metronome practice.
My lessons include -
Retaining and implementing a regular, comfortable practice routine
Chords for beginners, intermediate, and advanced players.
Metronome skills for all levels.
Approaching intermediate/advanced soloing technique
Technique analysis and improvement diaries
Learn to play (for favourite songs of students that they have always wanted to learn)
Recording and Production (ending in your own piece of written, recorded and mixed music!)
Lets take your guitar playing from wondering where to go next, to making the first jump into feeling like you are progressing every time you play.
I have been playing a wide range of styles on the guitar for over 10 years and been teaching for 2 years.
I have played in a selection of bands and produce and record music at home for musicians. My passion for seeing progression in others is second to none and I possess a patient, understanding and comfortable attitude to the way I approach music, be it playing , teaching or recording.
Absolutely 100% recommend sam for guitar tuition. Insane guitar player but equally an amazing teacher. He is very patient and always tries to taylor the lessons to your personal needs. Very good at explaining things and help in anyway possible.
Working with Sam is truly an amazing experience. He puts everything into his craft and it shows through his incredible playing. I have learnt, and I am still learning so much to do with music from Sam and any aspiring successful musician should seek his knowledge and experience.
I met Sam through a friend and he is such a down to earth person, and amazing teacher regardless of what level or skill you’re at. After a few exercises to see what your strengths are, he will use that to build on those whilst still improving the things you are not so confident at. He has a lot of patience, time and knowledge to give and would highly recommend to anyone. Best tutor I’ve had by far.
