About Abigail
With something like 20 years behind the sewing machine, I know learning to sew can be intimidating at first! But one of the best parts of my career has been getting to teach this rewarding skill to others. I've seen that spark of wonder ignite in both kids and adults when I'm at their side as they're navigating the machine or giving them some insight into garment construction.
Some credentials: 20+ years sewing, garment making, bags and quilts, a side-quest into bridal alterations, machine and hand embroidery, and pattern drafting. Sewing is a foundational skill that gives you so many options!

Hi there! If you want to start your journey with sewing, or if you've learned some basic skills and want to know where to go next, I'm here to help. I've been sewing for 20 years, and in that time I've made clothes, bags, quilts, accessories, etc.--some from patterns, some from my own designs. I also worked as a bridal alterations seamstress!
You don't have to have access to your own sewing machine, though that helps so you can practice on your own. In the first lesson we'll get acquainted with the sewing machine, practice some basic stitches, and make a simple, easy project (a finished project on your first day!). As you get more comfortable with sewing straight lines we'll take on more complex projects, start and then when you're solid on the basics we'll work together to tailor your skills toward the types of projects you want to make!
