About Jo
Clothier is a representation of my approach towards effective tutoring: relationship-driven, adaptable, and holistic. Students often cram for tests, but my goal with each student is that they won't need to. With Clothier, you can rest assured that students will see long-term and permanent improvement, whether in regard to the mechanical elements of English or the writing habits that will follow an individual for the rest of their lives.

For a topic as qualitative as English or Writing, it is often difficult to see improvement. What I started to do is that whenever a contract reaches its end, I like to have my student read and review their first piece of writing to me. The results are typically entertaining but also extremely encouraging. For me as a tutor, seeing a student recognize the progress they made is the one thing I enjoy the most.
I have received more than 250 of training in teaching and communication alongside more than 1000 hours of tutoring experience since I first began.

Since I began tutoring seven years ago, I always begin with an honest conversation with the student and the caretakers on their strengths and weaknesses. After making an assessment, I work with the student to develop a strategic plan to improve on their strengths and to improve on weaknesses over the course of our time together, whether short-term or long-term. Afterward, we discuss the expectations we have for one another as well as the student's available time commitment per week. Finally, we formulate a learning plan together that is tailored accordingly to the unique needs of the student.

Details
Lessons are priced at 60 per hour typically with a monthly contract that details the total hours per month as requested by the responsible parties.
