About Ella
Hi, I'm Ella, an academic and admissions tutor and current UCL postgraduate student and researcher specialising in humanities and social sciences. I hold a 1st Class BSc in Politics and International Relations from the University of Bristol, a Postgraduate Diploma with Distinction in Development Studies at King's College London. I am currently completing an MSc in Social Policy and Social Research Methods at UCL.
I offer personalised support for GCSE and A Level students, as well as students preparing university applications or looking to strengthen their academic writing and study skills. I have experience supporting students with UCAS applications and personal statements, helping them communicate their academic interests, strengths and suitability for their chosen courses effectively.
My academic background spans politics, sociology, international relations, sustainable and international development, social policy and research methods, and I have studied across multiple Russell Group universities. Alongside exam support, I offer university application mentorship and admissions guidance, helping students identify suitable courses, understand university expectations and develop applications that reflect their interests, experience and academic strengths.

My teaching approach is tailored to each student. I offer a complimentary 30-minute introductory session where we can discuss your goals, identify areas you would like to work on and establish a personalised plan for future lessons.
Lessons are typically 60 minutes and can be adapted to suit your needs. Depending on the student and subject, sessions may focus on a particular topic, exam preparation, essay planning, reviewing written work, developing academic skills or preparing university applications.
I focus on making complex ideas clear and accessible, while helping students develop the skills to think critically, construct strong arguments and communicate their ideas effectively. For essay-based subjects, I particularly focus on essay structure, developing a clear argument, using evidence effectively, critical analysis and improving written expression.
For exam-based subjects, I use past exam questions and mark schemes to help students understand what examiners are looking for, practise applying their knowledge and develop effective exam techniques.
I am passionate about education and helping students realise their academic potential. My goal is to give you the knowledge, skills and confidence to succeed in your studies, whether you are preparing for an important exam, working on an essay or taking the next step towards university.
